Notice to Cultural Establishments
The Observatoire de la culture et des communications du Québec is part of the Institut de la statistique du Québec (ISQ), the official statistical agency of Québec. The Observatoire is, therefore, governed by the Act respecting the Institut de la statistique du Québec, giving it several advantages: power of enquiry, access to data produced by other entities and guaranteed confidentiality to respondents. To carry out a number of its projects, the Observatoire uses administrative data from Revenu Québec on Québec cultural establishments. This data is used to complete the data collected in surveys and produce statistical estimates. In this type of project, as in all Observatoire projects, only aggregate results are made public. In no case is the administrative data used by the Observatoire forwarded to other departments or agencies.The Observatoire entered into with Revenu Québec an agreement approved by the Commission d’accès à l’information. This agreement provides for the enforcement of rigorous rules and mechanisms, i.e. the destruction of the data once the project has been terminated to guarantee the strictest confidentiality of the information consulted by the Observatoire.
