Every five years, Statistics Canada conducts a census, making it possible to update Québec’s basic population statistics. This section paints a picture of Québec’s 17 administrative regions and their territorial components, which is based on the population characteristics measured in the census. It also provides, using the same characteristics, a comparison of the administrative regions and a profile of the six census metropolitan areas.

The 2011 Census of Population data will be disseminated on the Institut website in the fall of 2012.
