What is the Institut de la statistique du Québec?
The Institut de la statistique du Québec, also known as Statistique Québec, is the government agency responsible for producing, analyzing and disseminating official, objective and high-quality statistics on various aspects of Québec society.
How was my organization chosen?
The survey universe is based on many sources of information, including the Registre des entreprises du Québec, the Ministère de l’Économie, de la Science et de l’Innovation (MÉSI), and associations in the cooperative and social economy sector. Organizations were then selected randomly according to various criteria to create the survey sample.
Do I have to take part in this survey?
Your participation is essential in order to draw the most accurate picture possible of Québec’s social economy sector and to ensure that all types of organizations and all industries are well represented.
As set out in section 11 of the Act respecting the Institut de la statistique du Québec, the director general has the right to determine which requests for information are to be considered mandatory if he deems that such information is necessary to produce reliable statistics. The director general has declared this survey mandatory.
As a result, you are legally obligated to fill out the survey. Under the Act respecting the Institut de la statistique du Québec, anyone asked to provide the Institut with information deemed mandatory must do so within the timeframe and in the format requested.
