Québec Population Health Survey (QPHS) 2008 and 2014-2015


Survey type: cross-sectional survey; provincial estimates, by health region and by local services network (2014-2015).

Target population:

2014-2015: people aged 15 and over living in non-institutional housing in Québec, excluding those living on an Indian reserve or in health region 17 (Nunavik).

2008:  people aged 15 and over living in private households in Québec, excluding those living in collective households, on an Indian reserve or in health regions 17 (Nunavik) and 18 (Terres-Cries-de-la-Baie-James).


2014-2015: 45,760 respondents.

2008: 38,154 respondents.


2014-2015: physical activity as a means of recreation or transport; oral health and hygiene; consumption of sugary or energy drinks; weight status, body image and the use of weight-loss products, services or methods; cigarette use; drug use; sexual behaviour, sexually transmitted diseases and contraceptive use; combined hormonal contraceptives taken by smoking women; preventive medical exams; perception of one’s health status; mental health; noises in one’s environment; allergic rhinitis; occupational health.

2008: physical and mental health; lifestyle habits that affect health; perceived health status, psychological distress, musculoskeletal injuries and disorders; oral health; weight status and use of weight loss products or methods; drug use; sexual behaviours and contraceptive use; women’s health behaviours.
