Access to information

The Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information Ce lien ouvrira une nouvelle fenêtre (CQLR, chapter A-2.1) promotes both government transparency and the protection of citizens’ privacy.

Stemming from the Act, the Regulation respecting the distribution of information and the protection of personal information Ce lien ouvrira une nouvelle fenêtre (CQLR, c. A-2.1, r. 2) demonstrates the government’s commitment to reaching these goals.

As a public body, the Institut de la statistique du Québec publishes on its website the targeted documents and information, provided that they are accessible under the Act.

In addition, the Act recognizes the right of citizens to access the documents of any public body subject to the Act, as well as their right to access personal information concerning them. In the latter case, citizens may request that their personal information be corrected if it is inaccurate, incomplete or equivocal, or if the collection, release or keeping of the information is not authorized by law. Some restrictions may apply.

To obtain a document or to access the personal information concerning you that is held by the Institut de la statistique du Québec, please send a written request to the person in charge of access to documents and the protection of personal information:
