The Enquête sur la violence envers les
conjointes dans les couples québécois (survey
on violence against female spouses in Québec couples) was
conducted in 1998 within the scope of the Enquête sociale
et de santé. This survey, whose main objective was to establish
the annual rates of the prevalence of violent behaviour toward female
spouses in Québec and to measure the most immediate consequences
on the health of women and their recourse to formal and informal
services, is part of an exploratory extension survey done by Santé
Québec in 1992-1993. It also aims at documenting the links
between violent behaviour and a number of individual, family and
social variables contained in the 1998 Enquête sociale et
de santé.
