This publication features the principal statistics on the demographic situation in Québec. The analysis is centered on the year 2010 and an overview of the trend expected for 2011 is given when the data so allow. Chronological series and comparisons with Canada and a few other countries provide different perspectives.
The first chapter is on the evolution of the total population, its shifts and age structure. Chapters 2, 3 and 4 deal with fertility, mortality and migrations. Chapter 5, covering nuptiality and divorce concludes the analysis. Regional portraits are presented in the Appendix. The two-page long portraits illustrate the recent demographic situation of each of Québec’s administrative regions.
