The Annuaire québécois des statistiques du travail (Québec directory of labour statistics), published twice a year, presents a detailed and timely portrait of the labour market, working conditions and labour dynamics in Québec. The first volume, published in 2005, presented a historical analysis of these elements. The ensuing volumes are devoted mainly to the analysis of current economic conditions. Thus, this volume updates the indicators presented in previous volumes; the same form of presentation is used to facilitate tracking from one year to the next. In general, the data cover the 2001-2009 period.
While the second issue of this volume will focus on working conditions and labour dynamics, the current issue deals with key labour-market elements. Among the topics covered are the working-age population, the labour force, employment and unemployment. Detailed analysis of the indicators is provided for Québec as a whole. Data are also presented for Québec’s administrative regions and for Canadian regions.
The Annuaire québécois des statistiques du travail is an important complement to the work of the Institut de la statistique du Québec in the area of labour statistics. It meets the needs of those seeking up-to-date information on the state of the Québec labour market and its trends and working conditions.
