1. Median income is the central value that divides a given group of individuals with an income into two equal halves; the first half consisting of individuals with an income below the median, and the second of individuals with an income above the median. Employment income corresponds to the income earned in a given year by workers in the form of wages, tips, wage-loss insurance payments, and net income from unincorporated businesses.
