1. Excludes certain types of paying performing arts events: private performances, performances of amateur shows and performances given in primary or secondary schools for students of those schools. Other performances are not considered to be "paying" if the admission fee consists of a passport or badge valid for the entire duration of a festival or event, of if the admission fee is a cover charge.
2. Performing arts include theatre, dance, music, song and variety shows.
3. Proportion of spectators in relation to the number of tickets available.
