Québec, October 29, 2015 – The data on the employment rate for full-time students during the school months of 2014 have confirmed a trend observed since 2010: Québec students are more likely than students in other provinces to balance school and work. Nearly half of Québec students (45%) were in this situation in 2014, while outside Québec this number drops to less than 40%.
Québec students also stand out regarding summer jobs
During the 2015 summer, just over one out of two students in Québec aged 15 to 24 were employed. Student employment therefore maintains the level observed since 2009. With this result, Québec students continue to post one of the highest occupancy rates in Canada alongside Prince Edward Island (60%).
The Institut de la statistique du Québec produces, analyses and disseminates official, objective and quality statistical information on various aspects of Québec society. It is the statistical coordinator for Québec and the relevance of its work makes it a strategic ally for decision makers and all those wishing to learn more about Québec.
