Geographic boundary and name in force as at January 1st, 2011. CDs correspond to geographical RCMs.

1. For the 12-month period July 1 to June 30.
2. The total number of emigrants is the sum of emigrants and the net number of persons temporarily abroad minus the number of returning emigrants. The figure may be negative.
3. Interprovincial migration estimates are derived from Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) tax data, except for preliminary data for July 2015 to June 2016, which are based on Canada Child Tax Benefit (CCTB) program data. Due to differences in the data source and calculation method, any comparison between the preliminary and final interprovincial in-migrant and out-migrant estimates must be made with caution.
4. Variation in the number of non-permanent residents. The non-permanent resident balance of 2005-2006 and 2010-2011 should not be compared with the rest of the historical series, because the calculating method for these periods, including census dates, is slightly different.
