1. Professional, technical and paraprofessional personnel are defined based on the "Variant for highly aggregated data" of the National Occupational Classification 2011, which is recognized by Statistics Canada as a departmental standard. Professional occupations comprise those in business and finance, natural and applied sciences, nursing, health, education services, law and social, community and government services, and art and culture. Technical and paraprofessional occupations comprise technical occupations related to natural and applied sciences, those in health, and those in art, culture, recreation and sport, as well as paraprofessional occupations in legal, social, community and education services, and occupations in front-line public protection services.
