1. The GDP is defined as the unduplicated value of the goods and services produced in the economic territory of a region during a given period, regardless of whether the factors of production are foreign-owned or not. The GDP at basic prices corresponds to the GDP calculated at market prices, minus the taxes levied on the products, plus consumer subsidies. The GDP in the Regional GDP tables is a GDP expressed in current dollars. The method used to calculate regional GDP incorporates home-work commuting matrices by NAICS industry derived from special compilations by Statistics Canada. These compilations are based on data from the 2006 Census, the 2011 National Household Survey (NHS), and the 2016 Census. The commuting matrix based on the 2006 Census is applied to data covering the period from 2007 to 2009. The commuting matrix based on the 2011 NHS is applied to data covering the period from 2010 to 2014. The commuting matrix based on the 2016 Census is applied to data from 2015 and 2016. In some cases, the transition from one commuting matrix to another can lead to breaks in the series. | ||||||||
