Demographic, socioeconomic, and neighbourhood characteristics of vulnerable children at school entry

Prepared using data from the Québec Longitudinal Study on Child Development (QLSCD), this newsletter presents the demographic, socioeconomic and neighbourhood characteristics of children who are vulnerable in one of the areas of their development in kindergarten; the vulnerability of the children is assessed using a version of the Early Development Instrument (EDI) that has been adapted for the QLSCD. The newsletter also looks at the predictive validity of the EDI with regard to the academic performance of children in the fourth year of primary school.
