This study is the fourth in a series of biennial surveys that began in 1998 under the name Québec Survey of Tobacco Use in High School Students. The results of this edition identify the trends in tobacco, alcohol and drug use and gambling among Québec high school students.
First, this report provides data for 2004 on these behaviours. It then presents the changes observed since 1998 in the case of smoking, since 2000 in the case of alcohol and drug use, and since 2002 in the case of gambling.
The target population of the survey included all students in Secondary 1 through 5 enrolled in the youth sector in French and English, public and private high schools in Québec. In total, 4,726 students from 158 schools took part in the survey in the fall 2004.
