This publication presents key findings on the eating habits and nutrient intakes of Québec children and focuses on the particular challenges of young children. It is the first of two fascicles on the eating habits of young Quebecers. The findings were obtained from the Canadian Community Health Survey (Cycle 2.2, Nutrition) conducted by Statistics Canada in 2004. Detailed results are provided in two previous reports by the Institut: L’alimentation des jeunes québécois : un premier tour de table (2008) and Les jeunes québécois à table : regard sur les repas et collations (2010).
The target population of the survey includes all persons living in private households in the ten Canadian provinces. The Québec sample is comprised of 4,780 respondents, including 2,014 children aged 1 to 18.
