The third volume of the report on the survey conducted in 1992 by the Rivière-des-Prairies hospital and Santé Québec addresses certain factors associated with mental disorders among youth. The independent variables selected for the multivariate analyses relate to the characteristics of the children (sex, school progression, chronic disease, etc.), their families (parents’ education, mental disorders, stressful events, etc.) and their socioeconomic environment (social support).
The target population of the survey comprises all children and teenagers aged 6 to 14 residing in Québec. In total, 2,400 young people and their parents participated in the survey. In the case of children aged 6 to 11, their teachers (1,440) also shared their point of view.
