This study, based on the data of Statistics Canada’s Labour Force Survey, describes the trends and characteristics of two HRST populations: university degree holders and those working in a science and technology occupation between 1990 and 2005. It provides an original analysis, largely based on the examination of statistical series. The study also includes a comparison with Canada, Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia as well as an analysis of regional data. Two perspectives of the regional data are presented, the first comparing the two major census metropolitan regions, Montréal and Québec, to Québec as a whole, and the second looking at Québec’s administrative regions.
