Summary of responsibilities

The Maintenance electrician installs, repairs and maintains electrical systems for public electrical distribution networks. Main duties: handles all installations and connections as well as problem detection and identification relating to the rebuilding, modification, repair and maintenance of all types of electrical systems; installs electrical entries of all voltages and amperages; assembles distribution panels.

Education requirement

Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP) with a specialization in construction electricity, or the equivalent recognized by the appropriate authority

Condition of employment

Hold or be in the process of obtaining a competency certificate (licence A or C) issued by the Ministre de lEmploi et de la Solidarit sociale or by the Commission de la construction du Québec

Minimum experience generally required by level of complexity

  • Level 1: None
  • Level 2: 4 years
  • Level 3: 6 years
