Summary of responsibilities

The Security guard ensures the security of properties and goods, controls access to establishments, maintains order and enforces regulations.

Main duties: controls access to an establishment, issues passes and directs visitors to the appropriate areas, patrols designated areas to protect them against theft, shoplifting, vandalism and fire, enforces regulations and maintains order within an establishment, may supervise and coordinate the activities of other Security guards.

Condition of employment

A firearm licence and specific training may be required in certain cases. When this is required, it becomes a condition of employment
