Summary of responsibilities

The Machinist performs a variety of activities related to the production, modification and repair of parts, machines, mechanical equipment and tooling. To that end, the incumbent sets up and operates various conventional machine tools or computer numerically controlled (CNC) tools to perform precision machining operations such as turning, milling, boring, drilling and precision grinding.

Education requirement

Secondary School Diploma and six years relevant experience
OR
Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP) with a specialization in machining techniques or another appropriate specialization
OR
Valid trade certification for machinists recognized by the appropriate authority

If trade certification for machinists is required at the time of hiring, it must be considered as a condition of employment
