Summary of responsibilities

The Heavy equipment operator drives and operates machinery, and/or heavy equipment used in the maintenance of public works and construction of roads, highways or related civil engineering works and structures.

Education requirement

Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP) specialized in heavy equipment operating or the equivalent recognized by the appropriate authority

Condition of employment

Must have at least a Class 5 driving permit. Generally a Trade certification following an apprenticeship program is compulsory to operate heavy equipment

Minimum experience generally required by level of complexity
